Navy Shop supports Navy Variety Bash 2018
Navy Shop was proud to support the Navy Bash ‘vessel’ this year by providing the crew with some company during the long stretches of outback driving.
During August 2018, rumours abounded of a submarine spotted in the outback. Upon further investigation, the vessel was positively identified as a black 1966 Holden HR with a submarine sail affixed to its roof – happily not the national security issue that could have been!
This year marks the fifteenth time that Navy has participated in the NSW Variety Bash. The annual Bash raises money for Variety, the Children’s Charity, which provides grants, scholarships, services and upliftment programs to Australian children from remote and disadvantaged communities. Since 2013, Navy has raised $500,000 through their participation in the Bash.
Navy Shop was proud to support the Navy Bash ‘vessel’ this year by providing the crew with some company during the long stretches of outback driving – and to lend a paw during the inevitable breakdowns. Navy Shop donated eleven Navy teddy bears to accompany the drive and to introduce regional schoolchildren to the Royal Australian Navy. By the time Team Navy had completed its bash, all the bears had found new homes in classrooms across the outback.
