Description

This common medal group includes the Australian Active Service Medal 45-75 with Korea Clasp, the Korea Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Medal, the Australian Defence Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal mounted for wear.

The Australian Active Service Medal 1945-1975 can be awarded for service between 3 September 1945 up to 13 February 1975. The Korea Clasp was issued to be worn on the Australian Service Medal (1945-1975). The Korea Service Medal, sometimes known as the Queens Korea Medal, is an Imperial Award, awarded for service in Korea between 1 July 1950 and 27 July 1953. The United Nations Service Medal (Korea) is awarded to members posted for any period with the UN forces in Korea between 27 June 1950 and 27 July 1954.

The Republic of Korea War Service Medal was introduced by South Korea in 1951 to recognise assistance provided by members of the UN forces in combating communist aggression in Korea. This medal is eligible for those awarded the Australian Active Service Medal 1945-75 with Clasp KOREA. The Australian Defence Medal is awarded to personnel who have been enlisted for a fixed period and completed the specified period or an indefinite period and completed four years of qualifying service.

Full eligibility criteria is available from the Department of Defence - Honours and Awards.
